What are we looking for in a Franchisee?

  • Customer skills. You need to be able to build a loyal customer base through your competence, confidence and trustworthiness.
  • A can do attitude.
  • An aptitude and some skills in the Repair, Installation and Training of either  Home Entertainment, Computer or Communication technologies.  Our comprehensive training programme and support will fill in the gaps.
  • A willingness to make the commitments necessary to build your own business.
  • A willingness to work as part of a broader AWA team. If all you are looking for is for AWA to give you some extra work this is not for you.

Assessing your suitability to be an AWA Franchisee

You also need to ask yourself what you are looking for and is this the right opportunity for you.

Not all people are suited to operating a franchise business. If you are not prepared to work long hours and invest time and money building your franchised business and do everything necessary in generating customer satisfaction in line with AWA’s policies and procedures, you should review your suitability.

Your potential success may be determined by:

  • Your technical aptitude and skill levels.
  • Your customer service skills.
  • Adherence to the AWA system.
  • Initiative you display in developing the business.

AWA expects all Franchisees to strictly comply with all of AWA’s systems, policies and procedures and act in a manner consistent with the other Franchisees. The success of the individuals will be very much driven by the success of the team. This requirement distinguishes a franchised business from a non franchised business where the owners decide for themselves how to operate. If you don’t think you need help to grow a business this is not the right opportunity for you.

We want franchisees who can make their own contribution to the system and help us grow stronger. AWA see this as the strength of franchising as many ideas and initiatives will come from fellow Franchisees.

Buying a franchise is a very serious decision. It is important that you complete your own due diligence enquiries and thoroughly investigate the business opportunity and the franchise before any final commitments or a decision is made to join the AWA franchise.

What does the network look like?

The AWA Franchise Network is based on individual territories. The Franchisee has primary rights and responsibilities for opportunities and work in that territory.

However there will be varying skills, capabilities and resources between Franchisees and the objective is to create a Network where the various Franchisees work together and complement each other.

To this end Franchises are offered as:

  • Mobile Operators
  • Service Centres
  • Combined mobile and service centres.

The right structure for you will be discussed as part of the evaluation process and will be driven by factors such as your skill set and the geographic location of the territory you are interested in.

What is the cost?

Participation in AWA’s franchise network involves various costs. These are determined by the type of franchise operation you are interested in, whether it is in a metropolitan or regional area and whether you have an existing business that you wish to incorporate into the network. Some examples are given in the following sections on Starting Your Own Business and Converting an Existing Business.

The general structure of these costs is typically:

  • An upfront franchise fee.
  • Ongoing royalties on business revenue.
  • A marketing levy – which is spent on promoting the franchise network.

In addition there will be establishment costs that will vary according to the location, background and focus of the particular franchise operation.
